Google has announced it will terminate its personal health record service as of December 31. The company had hoped for a broad impact, but was experiencing less-than-ideal growth. Currently, the service offers a place for patients to store their health information. Microsoft has a similar product, HealthVault, and current Google users can transfer their account to NoMoreClipboard. Central storage of health information, lab results, prescriptions and x-rays can help patients who see several specialists in different locations. According to Sean Nolan, the “family health guy” there is an increase in interest for these storage services.
