A lost tooth is one of the first signs of growing up. Perhaps it is perceived that a piece of childhood is lost with every dropped tooth. As a child you would lose a tooth, put your tooth under your pillow, and in the middle of night the tooth fairy would come take your tooth and leave a present. Did you know the story of the Tooth Fairy as we now know, didn’t make an appearance until the early 1900s?
Today, parents dutifully sneak into rooms at night, bearing gifts for the loss of a tooth. So what is the going rate? I surveyed 100 kids and these are the results.
Interesting enough, $1 is the number 1 answer with 38 kids and at a close second is $5 with 33 kids. Kids even got candy and toys. Who knew? I thought kids only got money.
The Tooth Fairy, continues to visit kids every night carrying teeth away for uses that no one will ever know, no matter what she leaves, she remains a wonderful childhood memory.
