Soft toothbrush or hard?
Now, most dentists recommend a toothbrush with soft bristles rather than medium or hard. The reason being with a soft toothbrush it is easier and less abrasive to brush your teeth in circular motions. It is also recommended to brush for 30 seconds on each part of your mouth for a total of 2 minutes. This includes chewing surface also known as the roof of the mouth, the teeth close to the cheek and close to the tongue.
Why some medium or hard toothbrushes are not recommended are because some people are aggressive brushers. With that the hard bristles could actually cause some abrasion, which can lead to sensitivity. Now if you feel that with a soft bristle toothbrush isn’t cleaning your teeth very well, trying flossing every time you brush. It will be gentler on your gums in the long run.
