Health: Like I stated before, a straight smile is a healthy smile. Your child may only need braces, or appliances – rarely both. Bottom line, your child’s health comes first, always.
Confidence: When children hide their smiles it’s mostly because they are embarrassed by the way it looks, which lowers their self confidence. Don’t overlook some of these signs as not being a big deal, in fact, they could present real obstacles down the road:
Socialization: Let’s be honest, children can be cruel to each other about their looks and will tease them on a constant basis because of it. Make sure you are listening to your child when you notice a change in their behavior. Talk to them and show them that you do care and want to help them.
Comfort: If your child is suffering from the following, it may be caused from their mouth/teeth and needs to be addressed:
Proper Development/Peace of Mind: The sooner you straighten your child’s smile, the faster it will develop as it should; straight, clean and healthy.
